Welcome to the Curwensville Area School District's Food Service Website.
Our school cafeterias have been certified as meeting the tough new federal nutrition standard for school meals. Those standards ensure meals provide students that are well balanced and provide all the nutrition they need to be successful.
Our meals have always included lots of fruits and vegetables, low-fat milk and whole grain-rich breads. Under the federal standards our meals ensure:
· Age appropriate calorie limits
· Larger servings of fruits and vegetables ( students must take at least one serving)
· A variety of vegetables through the week
· Fat-Free or 1% Milk
This school year all lunches at all levels will be offer versus served giving our students the opportunity to make choices. All lunches include five components; vegetable, fruit, meat/meat alternative, milk and bread. Students may choose an entrée that includes the meat/ meat alternative and bread components. They may take one serving of fruit, one of vegetable and milk to complete their meal. Students may decline up to two of the food items but of the three selected one must be a fruit or vegetable.
Our breakfast program in Curwensville will transition to a grab and go style where our students will have the opportunity to select their breakfast items from our breakfast carts upon arrival. Then proceed to their classrooms to consume their selections giving more student time and opportunity to enjoy this most important meal of the day.
Please note all free and reduced meal applications must be updated annually by October 1st. Also when there is a change in the household an updated application should be submitted. Applications are available in the elementary and high school office or online at our website.
