RCC Pic Reading Competition Club Information

What Is Reading Competition Club?

Reading Competition Club is a fun way for students to improve their reading skills while making new friends and hanging out with old friends. It is a team effort!  Each team needs 12 members and up to 2 alternates.

There are 42 books each team must read.  The books will be split up among the team members.  Each team member will be responsible for reading at least 7 books on the list by the competition.  The list can be found on the school district website under SERVICES / ELEMENTARY LIBRARY/ READING COMPETITION CLUB.  A copy of each book is provided in the elementary library.

Reading Competition Club is a fun way to get involved and requires little effort from those students who already like to read!

When Does RCC Meet?

We will meet every Monday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:05 p.m. To exchange books, practice questions and read.  You may also come to the library to read, exchange books or practice questions Tuesday thru Friday before the morning bell and after 2:40 p.m.

How Is The Competition Run?

On the day of competition we will leave from Curwensville and travel to a local school district.  Each team will participate in three rounds.  There will be a new opponent at each round.  The rounds consist of answering 20 comprehension questions about the books that were read.  The 12 members will be allowed to work together to answer the question.  There will be a team captain who will tell the moderator the answer to the questions.  Monitors (adult) will ask the questions and Scorekeepers (also adult) will keep score of every round.

When And Where Is The Competition?

The team competition will be held at a local School District.  The competition is the last Saturday in March, beginning at approximately 10 a.m. and should conclude around 1 or 2 p.m..  The school will provide transportation to and from the event.  Parents are encouraged to come and cheer for their students!
